Uncomfortable seats, incredibly awkward disembarking procedures. All alternatives should be considered before selecting Philippine Airlines
the pre-boarding area in Manila to Vancouver is terrible. Not enough space. I was flying business and the seating that was reserved for this was not monitored therefore no seats available. Upon boarding for business the area was packed with passengers and no separate line for frequent flyers to board therefore we were stuck behind stanchions permitting us to board. We had to crawl or climb over the stanchions in order to board.... WHAT A MESS!! This criticism is not because I was flying as a frequent flyer as there is not this MESS when flying from Vancouver to Manila. Improvements must be made as this sets the impression for the rest of the journey.

I always trust PAL pilots. During takeoff there was turbulence because of the cloudy weather and the pilot tried his best to manoeuvre away from the clouds.

There is no entertainment like magazine
All of our check-in baggages didn’t make it to our flight. This was true for most of the passengers of our flight. No plausible explanation was given considering this was a direct flight.
My flight from Cebu to Manila was so late I missed my flight to San Francisco, I will never fly Philippine Airlines again!!!
luggage checked has been ridiculous. it was checked 4 times prior to boarding.

I had a connection to make to get back to the east coast and set it up so I had 3.5 hours layover to make the flight. PAL changed the departure time from the Philippines by 2 hours so then I only had 1.5 hours to get off the plane, get through customs and immigration, get my luggage, walk to the domestic terminal, check in for my flight, get through security and to my gate in time to catch my flight. Impossible, especially since I was seated in row 66. An angel of mercy, otherwise known as a stewardess who I shared my problem with, moved me up to business class just before we landed. I only had a backpack so I was up when the seat belt sign went off, third off the plane, first through customs (I am old but I can still jog) and made it to my flight on time. No thanks to PAL for changing the schedule which caused me tons of stress for days before and on the flight. Thanks to the dear stewardess who made it possible to catch my flight. I don't know her name be she is my PAL nominee for employee of the year.
