Peak season:
The weather is generally warm and sunny throughout the year with the exception of a couple of months which sees some rainfall. Due to that most of the year is classed as a peak season making cheap flights to Accra quite difficult to come by. December is probably the most expensive month of the year for flights to Accra so make sure to secure your flight tickets well in advance if you want to visit then. March is the hottest month of the year which sees an influx of tourists fly into the country so you’ll notice bigger crowds than usual.
Off Season:
The rainy seasons are from April to mid-July and then in October. Generally you’ll find the cheapest flights to Accra then although don’t expect too much of a discount as tourism still exists quite strong, even in the rainy seasons. August is the coolest month of the year so you can expect a drop in tourists then, making cheap flights to Accra and deals on accommodation more likely. Whenever you intend to visit it’s still wise to book your flights to Accra in advance due to the real lack of an off-season.

British Airways, Iberia, Egypt Air and KLM are the major players, although there are others such as Air Canada. The price of flight tickets does vary depending on the airline so it’s worth checking a couple out and seeing what they charge for checked in luggage too. Other than that it’s a case of who offers the best in-flight entertainment, complimentary snacks etc. The website of each airline should be able to tell you what films they offer inflight so if that’s the kind of thing that might sway your decision make sure to check it out.
The easiest and quickest to get to the city is by taxi. You can find them outside of the airport at car park 2. A lot of drivers don’t use meters though so make sure you agree on a price before you get in to save yourself the hassle of an overly expensive taxi ride. You can also hire a car from the airport but unless you intend to drive around Ghana this could be more of a hindrance. That said, a lot of the attractions in Ghana are quite spread out so hiring a car could turn out to be a bit of a money saver. It’s worth checking with your hotel if they provide airport transfers in with the price of the room, whilst it’s not common practice in Accra you could find yourself with a hotel that does.
