Kayak did not properly advertise the price of the rental. Since they force buying the damage waiver, along with a ton of other fees not included in the quote.
Staff was friendly at the counter but the agency was horrible. Ended up having to go to another vendor to obtain a vehicle.
This is one of two car rental agencies that insists that you pay for the insurance policy even though you have other comprehensive coverage - this effectively doubles the cost of the rental. This was not apparent on the website. The staff person I dealt with indicated that it was present in "very very fine print." Both I and the person ahead of me who also appeared to be a seasoned traveler then had to make alternate arrangements. This cost me an additional two hours at the airport when I had a long drive to make after a long flight.
Drop off was super easy, but pick up took a hour and I did not wait in a line.
The terms of agreement for Dollar (Germany) mandate that you purchase their insurance - if you used a credit card for your rental. The insurance is an “option” that must be added at the counter and as it is an “option” is is not included in any quote. It doesn’t matter what other insurance you have
We couldn’t pick our car up st time I had requested. The staff at this airport location is HORRIBLE! Attitude manners everything horrible. We didn’t rent the car and went to another carrier
Car was a Hertz, new Renault
The very small print that the guy at the counter put in front of my, saing that I need to take full CDW despite my Wolrd Elite Master card. That was a pain to start our vacation with, since I spent 3 hours to argue and in the end I had to call several times in Canada to have the bank transfer me to the insurance company to have a letter specifically stating that the credit card in hand is covering me and not someone else with the CDW. Third world experience in Germany, I would not expect that, but Hertz seemed to want badly every one of my dollars. Will no longer rent with Dollar/Hertz and will say around me the story so people are aware.
That we finally received a car.
I made a reservation weeks in advanced yet the day of, there weren't any cars available due to events in the city. I'm sure the cars got rented out at a higher rate to walk in customers that did have a reservation. We had to wait at the airport for 3.5 hours after 2 long flights. And we weren't the only ones. A lot of people were in the same boat as us. If I ever use hertz/dollar again I won't bother making a reservation as it means nothing, apparently. Also, our final bill was more than quoted and we were not notified of the early closing time at the drop off location. Although, this is not surprising as the agents at the pickup location could barely do their jobs due to so many upset customers, waiting.
