I specifically selected the rental car location closest to where I was staying, that ALSO had the type of car I needed. When I arrived, I was given a lower quality car, with the explanation that since I made my reservation "last minute" this was all they had...the class of car I reserved would not be available until later in the day. I reluctantly took the car, but after driving a few blocks realized it wouldn't work. (My husband has a broken femur...we flew to San Francisco to see a specialist, but flying was too difficult for my husband on a walker, so we decided to drive back to Ventura). The car I was given had a VERY ROUGH ride, which would have caused my husband great pain. The rental agent did agree to exchange for a better car, but this involved a long drive across the city in traffic before we could begin our 7+ hour drive home. Also, the new car they gave us smelled so strongly of cleaning fluid or air freshener, that I had to leave the windows open because I was getting a headache!
