They ran out of cars! And didn’t tell anyone so people waiting in line for hours.

The car was a little dirty and hadn't been thoroughly cleaned. We also ended up with an SUV instead of a compact car as requested (I don't like driving big cars). I didn't have to pay extra for it (most people would consider it a bonus I guess). But they were very quick with both pickup and dropoff, and overall it was good value for the money.
Just an overall heads up, they don’t have a lot of vehicles so when you go in to pick up your reserved vehicle, they have to wait for someone to drop off their previously rental vehicle. Then, they turn it around immediately-so no cleaning the vehicle at all. Our vehicle had a check engine light on it as well. Customer service is luck luster-they do not care if you have to wait.
We cancelled this order and now concerned that you do not have the confirmation that we cancelled. Thanks so much for taking care of your software glitch
Drop off was a little vague. They were closed so i had to guess what to do with the keys.

Would like to pick up the car with a full tank and not only 1/4 which forced me to find gas quickly
Didn’t have my reservation although you confirmed. It would be nice if you reimbursed me for the $190 Urber charges incurred.
This reservation was canceled because they overbooked. When I arrived at the location, around 20 people were in line and had been there for over an hour waiting for cars. The answer I received was, “we will have all cars by the end of the day.” I canceled this reservation and quickly headed to the train station. When I got to my destination, I booked through National. They are just way more reliable. I will not pick Avis again.
Pickup was terrible, took an hour only one person in front of me. Made us wait in the rain outside because they had a rule of only one customer in the office at a time.
I reserved an SUV and was offered a Corolla or a mini van. Additionally the rate did not change. This is completely unacceptable.
There were no cars available to pick up when I went for my reservation. They didn’t call to let anyone know. They called me hours later to say that I could take an Uber to the airport and pick up a car then. I canceled my reservation because it was too much of a hassle. Also the representatives working on site couldn’t do anything - they just kept saying to call customer service. It was a mess
The customer service representative at the Hertz counter at the 1919 Connecticut Av NW, Washington DC location was incredibly helpful, friendly and efficient. She made my car rental experience much easier than expected! Thanks
Kayak's reservation code was only entered in Hertz's system on the day before, meaning Hertz did not really reserved anything. I got to pickup's place and there was no car available. Had to wait one hour for it. Meanwhile another costumer, who had not paid in advance like I did, was there waiting for 2 hours and obviously got preference to be attended first. When client pays in advance, please HONOR the contract and have the car available.

After I dropped off the car, Hertz for some reason did not register it as returned and I keep on getting threatening messages even after I called them and they confirmed that it was returned.
Terrible! They gave me the wrong car pickup location. Then finally, when I Uber’d to the alternate pick up location, they told me they had no cars available, but that they’d put me on a 2 hour waiting list. I never heard from them after that.
Very helpful staff but product was very poor. Car pickup was slow—agent was alone and very busy. Car was filthy, outside and in. Car had been smoked in. Car was old at 48,400 miles, and tired. Driver’s floor mat was worn out and ripped. Exit from hotel failed because the tickets supplied did not work causing a 30 minute delay. A dreadful experience with Hertz and the Washington Hilton
The "needs maintenance" announcement always turned on when I started the car - very annoying

Staff was great. Helpful, polite, friendly with quick paperwork and timely departure.
A written, verbal, or video overview of the car safety and new mechanical features. New cars have changed so much in just the past few years. Foremost would be the blind-spot warning detector, adaptive cruise control and CVT (transmission) manual downshifting (very important in mountainous terrain)
Staff was friendly and helpful. Great upgrade. Easy return/dropoff.
